The short version: FitTrail stores all your workout data locally on your device. We do not collect, sell or share your personal information. Location is only accessed while you are actively recording a workout.
FitTrail accesses your device GPS only during an active workout recording session. This data is used to calculate your route, distance, pace, speed and elevation. Location access stops the moment you finish or pause a workout. Your location data is never transmitted off your device.
Activity records — including routes, distance, duration, pace, calories and elevation gain — are stored locally on your device using an on-device database. This data is never uploaded to FitTrail servers or any third-party cloud service.
Your preferences (units, default activity type, weekly goal, display name) are stored locally using your device's local storage. These settings remain on your device at all times.
FitTrail does not collect, transmit or store any personally identifiable information on external servers. We do not require account registration, email addresses, names or any form of user authentication. There is no FitTrail account — the app works entirely offline.
The free version of FitTrail displays ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve relevant advertisements in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of personalised ads at any time through your device settings (iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising; Android: Settings → Google → Ads).
Route maps are rendered using map tiles from OpenStreetMap. When the map is displayed, tile requests are sent to OpenStreetMap servers. These requests may include your approximate viewport coordinates. Please refer to the OpenStreetMap Privacy Policy for details.
FitTrail uses Firebase Remote Config to manage feature flags and app update notices. This service may collect anonymous device and app metadata as described in Google's Firebase Privacy Policy. No workout or location data is included in these requests.
Required to record your workout route, measure distance, calculate pace and capture elevation. Location is accessed only while the app is in the foreground and a workout is actively recording. On iOS, you may also be asked to grant "Always" access to continue tracking when the phone screen is locked during a workout.
FitTrail does not request access to your contacts, camera, microphone, photos, health records or any other device data beyond location.
All workout data is stored solely on your device. You can delete individual activities from the History screen, or delete all data at once from Profile → Privacy & Data → Delete All Data. Deleting all data also resets your settings and returns the app to its initial state. Uninstalling the app will permanently remove all locally stored data.
FitTrail is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data through any connected service, please contact us so we can address it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of FitTrail after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
